If you’re living in a dorm and in search of something quick, healthy, and delicious to eat in the morning – look no further.
If you don’t have a blender – don’t be intimidated! There are many small and inexpensive blenders out there perfect for dorm or apartment living, such as this one. I think a blender is a college-must, as it simplifies and elevates meal-making.
This smoothie is my go-to breakfast. Not only does it give me energy throughout the day, it keeps me full and tastes like a creamy, delicious milkshake.
Chocked full of good ingredients like bananas, hearty almond butter, metabolism-and boosting cinnamon, this smoothie won’t just tingle your tastebuds, it’ll make you feel more confident knowing you made a healthy choice.
I add coconut oil to my smoothie to make it creamier and for the added benefits of coconut oil, which you can read about here. I also add a tiny bit vanilla extract for taste.
I make this smoothie with vegan ingredients such as almond milk and a whey-free protein powder simply because of the health properties and an effort to eliminate dairy from my diet. * indicates an optional ingredient
1/2 cup (frozen) bananas, sliced – either frozen or fresh
1 serving of (vegan chocolate) protein powder*
1/3 cup almond coconut milk
2 tsp of cocoa powder
2 tbsp almond (or peanut) butter
1/2 tsp cinnamon*
1/2 spoonful of coconut oil*
1/2 tsp vanilla extract*
1. Combine ice, bananas, protein powder, cocoa powder, and cinnamon into blender.
2. Add almond coconut milk, almond butter, coconut oil, and vanilla extract.
3. Blend until creamy, or your preferred consistency.
If your smoothie is still chunky, try using a spoon to mix things around and then blend again.
Et voila! You’ll be surprised how filling this smoothie is! I hope this smoothie makes you feel confident and prepared for the day so you can take on whatever comes your way!!
